I had a wonderful experience at the 2026 CEO Facilitator Retreat in Kankakee, Illinois. The community was impressive, with many entrepreneurs returning to invest in local businesses and venues, helping strengthen and revitalize the area.

One of the highlights of the retreat was meeting and learning from Doug Villhard. Doug is an entrepreneur and professor at Washington University in St. Louis who joined the CEO family in 2020, bringing his expertise to help students develop their 30-second business pitches. He has also created entrepreneurship curriculum for CEO young professionals. For all the sports enthusiasts, Doug's first startup was MaxPreps! He and his wife also founded a private high school. His accomplishments are impressive, but what stood out most was his ability to teach and inspire others.

Another memorable experience was touring a Frank Lloyd Wright house in Kankakee. Our guide, Deborah, provided fascinating insight into Wright's architecture as well as the families who have called the home their own over the years.

It was a great three days in Kankakee, filled with valuable information, fresh ideas, and new perspectives. I'm excited to bring what I learned back to support the 23 young professionals who will join SWMN CEO this fall!
