On March 31, 2026, the Daviess County CEO Cohort had the opportunity to host Cindi Clayton, an instructor in Business Communications at the University of Southern Indiana’s Romain College of Business. She shared valuable insights with the group, encouraging those planning to attend college to choose a place where they feel genuinely happy and aligned.
During her discussion, she posed an important question: “What keeps employers up at night?” Her answer—employees and communication—highlighted the critical role that strong communication skills play in today’s workforce. She emphasized the importance of seeking workplaces that align with personal values, building a strong foundation of knowledge, and understanding both the capabilities and limitations of the tools we use. She also challenged students to stay aware of emerging trends and to recognize that skill sets are increasingly important in today’s job market.
Cindi brings extensive experience and expertise in business administration, career services and internships, communication studies, human resource management, management, and organizational leadership. Her specialized areas include business communication, human resources, executive coaching, emotional intelligence, leadership, recruiting, resume development, and hiring practices. She earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology and her master’s degree in communication from USI in 1999 and 2015, respectively, and has over 25 years of experience in human resources. In 2020, she became a certified executive leadership coach.
We are grateful to Cindi for sharing her time, knowledge, and professional insight with the cohort.
